| The monograph provides the description of hydrological basis of the use and protection of water resources of the Lake Baikal basin, including the Russian and Mongolian territories. It offers principles for optimization of water use with the consideration of the requirements of ecological security. It gives recommendations for the improvement of the system of use and protection of water resources of the Lake Baikal basin. The authors provided a detailed analysis of the water regime of rivers, spatial distribution of the river runoff. They offered a system of methods for the calculation and prognosis of the river run-off as well as possible deviations of hydrological regime.
